SBU rallies for 5-4 win over Southern in MIAA baseball
BOLIVAR, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern baseball team led 4-2 going into the bottom of the eighth, but a three-run inning lifted Southwest Baptist over the Lions 5-4 Friday in Bolivar.
The Lions (25-16, 19-14 MIAA) scored two runs in the fifth and a run in each of the sixth and eighth innings.
Brett Abell started the game for the Lions and went seven and a third, striking out seven and allowing four earned runs. David Reese and Bo Bergen pitched in relief.
Blue Tigers avoid baseball series sweep by Gorillas
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Lincoln University broke a 9-9 tie with two runs in the sixth inning and added another insurance run in the seventh to pull out a 12-10 victory over Pittsburg State University Sunday (Apr. 14) and avoid a three-game series sweep at the hands of the Gorillas.
LU (5-26, 4-22) built a 9-4 lead against Pitt State (22-15, 18-13 MIAA) only to see the Gorillas knot the score at 9-9 following a three-run sixth inning.
Gorillas softball take two victories from Lopers
KEARNEY, Neb. -- The Pittsburg State Softball team swept an MIAA doubleheader of the season with a pair of wins over Nebraska-Kearney on a blustery Sunday (April 14) afternoon. The Gorillas had to come from behind in both games to win 4-3 and 5-3.
In the first game, Pitt State scored four runs off eight hits and four Loper errors. UNK scored three runs off seven hits. The Gorillas did not commit any errors.
