Weather impacts Kansas Sub-State hoops schedules

The winter weather system which has moved into Southeast Kansas has had an effect on Sub-State First Round games scheduled around the area.
Win over Bronchos secures MIAA tourney berth for MSSU men
JOPLIN, Mo. -- A three-pointer from Austin Wright with 11:47 left in the second half, gave the Lions a 52-50 lead that they would not relinquish as Missouri Southern defeated visiting Central Oklahoma, 85-77, Monday night and qualified for the 2013 MIAA Basketball Tournament.
Southern (12-12, 7-9 MIAA) was led offensively by 23 points and a career-high 13 rebounds from Marquis Addison. He shot 14-of-17 from the free-throw line. Wright scored 16 points and Blaine Miller added 13.
Rice has big Senior Night as Southern women edge UCO
JOPLIN, Mo. -- Behind 15 points from senior forward Erin Rice and two clutch free throws from Samantha Soyez, the Missouri Southern Lions women's basketball team won a nail-bitter tonight over Central Oklahoma defeating the Bronchos, 68-66, on Senior Night.
With three other Lions in double figures on the evening, Southern would use strong second-half shooting and convert key free throws down the stretch to notch their sixth conference win of the year to even their overall record at 12-12. Dominique Mosley would add 12 points while Sharese Jones would chip in 11 for the Lions.
